On Stage 4, Meeke and Devine are separated by no time, posting the same result on the second run around Sleeghan. By the end of Day 1, Meeke is reported to be 11.8 seconds ahead of reigning champion Devine after two loops of Sleeghan, Sean Bhaile and Doire Ui Fhril. Subsequent stage reports show Devine continuing to close the gap: on Stage 8 at Drumhallagh he is quickest while Meeke keeps his lead, and on Stage 11 at Trentagh Devine records a 6:14.6, improving by four seconds versus Meeke’s 6:18.1. Josh McErlean also records a quicker time than the leader on Stage 11.
