An Anambra State High Court in Awka grants bail of ₦50 million to Nnewi-based native doctor Ikechukwu JohnPaul Ezenagu, also known as Mmuo Mmili Afuluanya (or Muomiri Afuluanya). The court action follows his arrest in March 2026 by operatives of Agunechemba, the Anambra State security network, over alleged violations of the state’s Homeland Security Law. After an earlier court appearance, Ezenagu is remanded at the Amawbia Correctional Centre before the latest proceedings.
The court sets strict bail conditions, including a gag order that bars him from speaking to the press or making public comments about the case. He must also provide sureties acceptable to the court. In addition, the ruling includes forfeiture of property to the Anambra State Government if he jumps bail or fails to comply with the conditions.
The matter remains pending as the case is adjourned for further hearing. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Ezenagu retains the right to defend himself against the charges, according to the reporting.
