Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, appoints Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force. The appointment is announced on Friday in a statement issued by the outgoing FPRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid. Iniedu succeeds Placid, who is redeployed, according to one report, to the Lagos State Police Command.

Iniedu is described as a native of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State and a graduate of Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. The reports say he has professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis. His prior roles include heading the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at Force Headquarters in Abuja, serving as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, and holding operational and intelligence-related postings in states including Yobe and Abia. One outlet also notes his experience as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
