Dr Oyelami Saliu, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026 Osun State election, tells residents not to wish Governor Ademola Adeleke dead amid recent controversy. Speaking at the 10th Media Parley organised by the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) on Friday, Saliu, a medical practitioner, says he cautions against ill wishes toward political opponents and argues that Adeleke will survive to hand over power after the election. Saliu frames the comment as part of a broader call for political contests to remain respectful and not driven by hostility.
On performance, he acknowledges that the incumbent governor has made efforts but says the administration’s recorded achievements are not enough to meet the people’s expectations, adding that he believes Osun needs a leadership change. Saliu says his decision to contest is based on a view that the state requires a different approach to governance and development. He also pledges that, if elected, his administration will sustain beneficial projects initiated by the current government. Regarding airport development, he says his administration will assess two airport projects under construction before deciding which to prioritise for completion based on feasibility and economic benefits.
