Indore police have arrested a 19-year-old employee of a Maruti car showroom in connection with an alleged theft of valuables worth about Rs 2.5 crore. Police said the incident was reported on June 17 by the operations manager of Patel Motors showroom. The complaint alleged that items such as an iPhone, gold ornaments and silver coins stored in a showroom cabin were stolen.

According to police, investigators formed a team after the theft, reviewed CCTV footage and other technical evidence, and detained the employee, identified as Lucky Borasi, within 48 hours. During questioning, police said he confessed to the theft, alleging that he exploited his position and the trust placed in him as a staff member. Police further claimed that he also stole a gold canopy (chhatra) and a diamond-studded crown belonging to Khodiyar Mata from a locker inside the showroom owner’s cabin.

Police said the stolen property has been recovered from the accused, including the iPhone, gold canopy and crown (weighing about 1.426 kg), and 12 silver coins, and that the total recovered value is estimated at around Rs 2.5 crore. Authorities said further questioning continues to check for possible links to other crimes.
