Ronaldinho is reported to be coming out of retirement to join Italian third-tier club Ravenna. Multiple outlets cite Italian newspaper reports, particularly Gazzetta dello Sport, saying the former Ballon d’Or and World Cup winner is expected to sign a deal at an event in Miami. Gazzetta’s report also places Ronaldinho in the United States at the time, and it says he is scheduled to complete the arrangement there, with some coverage specifying a June 23 presentation.

Several accounts agree that the deal is linked to Ravenna’s plans for registration and promotion rather than a conventional return to regular playing. A Ravenna vice-president, Ariedo Braida, is quoted in Italian media as suggesting the move may function as a marketing opportunity and that Ronaldinho may not necessarily play. He is, however, expected to be registered.

Ronaldinho last played professionally in 2015, after a two-month stint with Fluminense, following a career that included major clubs such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
