Mumbai’s civic-run BEST bus services are severely disrupted for a third day following a strike by BEST employees, leaving many commuters to use alternatives such as trains, the Metro, taxis and auto-rickshaws. The strike, organised by the BEST Sanyukt Kamgar Kruti Samiti, has effectively paralysed bus operations since June 19, affecting day-to-day travel across the city.

As the NEET-UG re-examination takes place, the administration deploys additional buses to reduce travel difficulties for candidates attending examination centres in Mumbai. Multiple reports state that at least 100 buses are being arranged, with one account specifying that 60 additional buses are deployed across the city to serve students travelling to and from 63 examination centres. The special buses operate during key exam windows—roughly 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—with depot managers instructed to ensure availability near centres.

Alongside the bus arrangements, the administration serves notices under the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) to strike participants and to wet-lease contractors providing BEST services. Reports also note that essential power-supply functions continue.
