A 19-year-old NEET UG aspirant is found dead in Hyderabad’s Miyapur area, days ahead of the re-examination scheduled for June 21, multiple reports say. The student, identified as Sheikh Sana, allegedly dies by suicide in her apartment, where she lives with her two younger siblings while her parents work in Kuwait. Police reach the apartment after receiving information and shift the body to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination; a case is registered, and investigations are ongoing.
According to reports, a note is recovered from the scene in which Sana writes that “no one is responsible” for her death and that she is taking her life. Investigators suspect that academic pressure and anxiety linked to the NEET re-test may have contributed to her distress. One report states she had been preparing for NEET for about a year and had scored above 90% in her Intermediate examinations. On the day of the incident, her siblings have breakfast together; after Sana goes into her room to study and locks the door, concern grows when she does not respond to calls for lunch.
The re-test follows the cancellation of the original NEET exam on May 3 after allegations of a question paper leak.
