Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele congratulates Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election, saying the renewed mandate will sustain development and strengthen unity in the state. Bamidele, who chaired the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship election campaign council in Ekiti, describes the victory as an endorsement of Oyebanji’s leadership and governance record.
He says the re-election is expected to ensure continuity of projects and accelerate development. Bamidele also attributes the result to what he describes as Oyebanji’s efforts to foster peace, unity, and political stability, including bringing together leaders and stakeholders across party lines. He claims this approach helps move Ekiti’s political landscape away from division and hostility toward cooperation.
According to the reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares Oyebanji winner of the June 20, 2026 governorship election after he polls 319,224 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, receives 40,543 votes, while African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Dare Bejide gets 12,872 votes. Bamidele further praises Ekiti voters for their peaceful conduct and thanks APC leadership for its support.
