Tata Motors says it has secured orders for more than 3,400 electric commercial vehicles (eCVs) across India, spanning freight and passenger applications. The company made the announcement in a June 21 statement and an exchange filing. The order book includes about 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pickup trucks, nearly 900 electric trucks, and roughly 500 electric buses.

The vehicles are intended for a range of operating needs. Tata Motors cites use cases including e-commerce and logistics, FMCG and consumer durables distribution, intra-city freight, and passenger transportation, as well as specialised demands such as airport tarmac operations. It also points to demand from heavy industries such as cement, steel, and mining.

Both outlets describe the move as part of Tata Motors’ broader expansion of its electric commercial vehicle portfolio over the past year, covering last-mile delivery to heavy-duty freight. Tata Motors also reports an existing eCV operating base, including thousands of electric buses and more than 17,000 electric small commercial vehicles in service, alongside partnerships aimed at supporting charging access and financing.
