Yiaga Africa says it verifies the official results announced by Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. The election observer group reports that its Watching The Vote (WTV) Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) methodology shows INEC’s figures fall within the range of its own estimates, and that the results correspond to ballots counted at polling units across the state.
However, Yiaga Africa also raises concerns about alleged irregularities. It says there are red flags relating to widespread vote buying and inconsistencies in voter turnout data. The group’s comments come after it conducts its independent tally and comparison with INEC’s official outcome, according to its stated verification process.
While Yiaga Africa confirms that the announced results are broadly aligned with its independent assessment, it calls attention to issues it believes may have affected the election’s integrity, particularly regarding how votes are obtained and how turnout figures are recorded.
