Police in Tacloban City say both minor suspects in the shooting at San Jose National High School have been arrested and are now in police custody. According to the Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO 8), one suspect is apprehended soon after the incident, inside the school campus. PRO 8 director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy said the first suspect was caught right after the shooting while he was still on the school grounds. Tacloban City Police Director Col. Noelito Getigan adds that teachers, students, and parents help prevent the suspect from fleeing. Reports also describe community involvement in locating and detaining the other suspect. Getigan says the second minor suspect later surrenders to authorities several hours after the shooting, after a neighbor turns him over to police. Police statements indicate the second suspect is brought to Police Station 1, where he is processed following the surrender. A video report shows the suspect being urged by neighbors to surrender and later being escorted to the police station. Police continue to investigate the incident, including the circumstances that led to the shooting and the suspects’ roles.
