An Indian man, Akash Tiwari, is sentenced to six months’ jail for molesting and harassing a Singapore Airlines flight attendant during a flight to Singapore. The incident occurs on board a Singapore-bound flight departing from Thailand. Court accounts say Tiwari molests the stewardess while his friends allegedly react by laughing. After the woman tries to report the incident to her supervisor, Tiwari follows her into the galley, stands very close to her, and corners her, which constitutes harassment. The flight captain reports the matter, and a police report is lodged. Tiwari is arrested upon arrival at Changi Airport. He pleads guilty to one count each of molestation and harassment. In addition to the jail term, the court orders him to pay compensation of S$1,270.95. One report also states that if he fails to pay, he will spend an additional five days in custody.
