Railway zones and units across India observe the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2026 under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Central Railway, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Western Railway and Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) hold programmes for railway officers, employees and their families. In multiple locations, participants listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address via live telecast or video conference. The sessions follow the “Common Yoga Protocol” advised by the Ministry of Ayush, and include yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation, with emphasis on mobility, balance, stress management and overall well-being.

Central Railway and NFR also organise similar yoga programmes across divisions, workshops and establishments. Western Railway conducts celebrations at its headquarters, followed by zone-wide activities across divisions, depots and sheds. RWF’s event is organised under the National Event Yoga Sangam, with trained instructors leading the yoga practice and guidance on benefits such as improved posture, mental clarity and healthier ageing.

Railways use social media to share awareness messages and encourage public participation, highlighting yoga as a preventive healthcare practice and a daily lifestyle for physical and mental health.
