Hong Kong’s Hospital Authority (HA) dismisses a resident doctor at Tuen Mun Hospital after it finds the doctor carried out an unauthorised examination of a patient. The HA says an internal investigation committee concludes the doctor acted dishonestly and committed serious misconduct, in breach of professional ethics and integrity.
The disciplinary case is reported to be connected to an earlier incident involving a trainee medical intern. The HA previously sacked an intern (reported as the resident doctor’s girlfriend in one outlet) after allegations that the intern accessed patient records without permission. Following that case, the HA investigates related conduct, including the examination issue involving the resident doctor.
Both outlets describe the dismissed doctor as unnamed and confirm the decision is based on HA findings of serious misconduct and dishonesty. The unauthorised examination is treated as a separate professional breach, while the earlier data-access allegations involving the intern form part of the broader background to the case.
