The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrests former Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL) director and chief executive officer Devang Mody and former Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) executive director and chief executive officer Ravindra Sudhalkar in connection with the Reliance ADA Group cases. The CBI says the alleged conduct resulted in a combined wrongful loss of ₹7,623 crore to lending banks. In the RCFL case, it says the accused caused a loss of ₹4,097 crore to 13 public sector banks (PSBs). In the RHFL case, it says the loss is ₹3,526 crore to 10 PSBs.

According to the probe agency, Mody and Sudhalkar are key decision-makers in their respective companies’ operations during their tenures. The CBI says they sanctioned loans involving intermediary and conduit firms despite alleged violations of RBI and lending norms and conditions governing borrowings from PSBs. It also alleges that funds borrowed by RCFL and RHFL were diverted to other Reliance ADA Group companies, which contributed to the claimed losses and related gains.

The CBI says it has registered multiple FIRs in connection with the matter and that the cases are under investigation, with monitoring by the Supreme Court mentioned in one report.
