Mumbai-based lawyer Nazia Elahi Khan denies allegations that she made derogatory remarks about Muslims and Prophet Muhammad. The claims stem from viral videos and a podcast/interview that complainants say offended Islamic religious sentiments. Khan, who describes herself as a BJP member and says she is not active on social media except X, alleges the videos referenced in FIRs are AI-generated and fabricated. She also says she has received multiple death threats and that police protection has been provided by Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal authorities.

Mumbai police have initiated legal action after complaints linked to separate police jurisdictions. In Bhiwandi, an FIR is registered at Shanti Nagar police station based on a complaint alleging comments about Prophet Muhammad made in a social media post. Separately, Pydhonie police register a Zero FIR following a complaint by the Raza Academy about remarks attributed to Khan during a podcast interview; investigators record statements and plan to transfer the matter to West Bengal for further investigation. Khan has also cited earlier legal proceedings, including a pending writ petition in the Calcutta High Court about alleged fake social media accounts created in her name. The Raza Academy has urged criminal action.
