Apple is planning to stop offering the AirPort Utility app through official app distribution channels, according to release notes for iOS 27 (beta 2), iPadOS 27, and macOS (referenced as “Golden Gate”). The release notes say AirPort Utility will no longer be available for new downloads from the App Store, while users who already installed or previously downloaded the app will be able to re-download it. For users who run the app on iOS 27 and later, Apple warns that functionality is not guaranteed.

Apple also plans to remove AirPort Utility from new installations on macOS, but users who already have the application installed will be able to keep using it after updating to newer versions. The company again notes that operation is not guaranteed on macOS Golden Gate.

AirPort Utility is used to manage Apple AirPort base stations such as AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express, and AirPort Time Capsule. Separately, macOS Golden Gate is described as eliminating AFP support, which affects Time Machine compatibility with the AirPort Time Capsule.
