Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is proposing reforms to simplify and consolidate regulations governing stock exchanges and related market infrastructure. The regulator’s plans focus on reducing redundancies and eliminating obsolete provisions, with an emphasis on lowering compliance burdens for exchanges and clearing entities. Across the proposals, SEBI outlines the creation of a unified “master circular” that consolidates multiple existing circulars into a single document for stock exchanges. The review also includes updates to technology and operating frameworks for market participants and changes to reporting processes. SEBI further indicates a shift toward clearer allocation of responsibilities among market infrastructure institutions, aiming to streamline day-to-day compliance and administrative work.

The initiative comes with a consultation period for stakeholders to comment on the draft changes. Economic Times reports that public feedback is open until July 13, 2026. Times of India describes the effort as part of a broader ease-of-business push intended to make operations more efficient for market participants while maintaining regulatory oversight.
