Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, a former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), says he anticipated problems when Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was preparing to take office. Speaking on Monday on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oritsejafor stated that in 2014 he tried to warn the public about the direction the country was taking as Buhari’s government neared. He described the Buhari administration as “a mess,” and added that Nigeria has deteriorated further under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. Oritsejafor also said he feels compelled to speak out to urge accountability, explaining that as a pastor he serves congregants who are also Nigerians affected by the country’s situation. He therefore framed his comments as part of efforts to encourage holding leaders responsible for developments in Nigeria, starting from his warnings ahead of the Buhari era.
