The United States transfers four unmanned autonomous vehicles to the Armed Forces of the Philippines to expand maritime surveillance and situational awareness. Philippine and U.S. officials say the handover takes place during a turnover ceremony at the Philippine Navy’s Naval Operating Base in Subic Bay, Zambales. The vehicles are Ocean Aero Triton autonomous underwater and surface vehicles (AUSVs) donated by the United States. Philippine officials describe the new systems as strengthening maritime domain awareness and improving monitoring of the country’s waters.

According to reporting, the four vehicles are valued at about PHP 754 million. Philippine Navy spokesperson Capt. Marissa Martinez says the acquisition adds an unmanned capability for surveillance efforts. The U.S. Embassy also provides that the Triton systems are delivered as part of the transfer. Both outlets characterize the move as aimed at improving maritime awareness rather than as a deployment announcement, and they do not specify immediate operational locations or schedules beyond the acquisition and turnover.
