Pune police are investigating the death of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal, whose death at Lohagad Fort on June 18 was initially reported as an accident. Multiple outlets report that Agarwal had gone to the fort with his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and two close friends, with the trip described as connected to birthday celebrations for an upcoming marriage.
Agarwal was found dead at the bottom of a deep gorge on the fort, about 400 feet below. After the initial accident theory, police now allege it was a homicide, with his fall allegedly caused by others. According to reports, police allege that Agarwal was pushed into the gorge by his fiancée and her male friend.
Times of India reports that investigators view the incident as part of a longer-running plan and that the woman allegedly attempted to present the death as a fall or accident. The case has shifted from an accident inquiry to a murder probe, and the fiancée and the alleged male accomplice are detained while police conduct further investigation.
