The European Union announces that 75 Indian students are selected for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) scholarships for the 2026–28 academic cycle. The selection continues India’s strong performance in the programme, which has been awarding grants to Indian nationals since 2004, and the EU says India remains among the top recipients globally for the 2026 intake. The scholars are set to pursue joint master’s programmes offered by universities across 15 European countries, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Their study areas range across emerging and interdisciplinary fields such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, smart urban development, vaccinology, gender studies, and humanities and social sciences. The EU also launches a new EU–India Student Ambassadors’ Network to promote awareness of European higher-education opportunities and strengthen academic links between the regions. The network brings together student ambassadors from universities across multiple Indian states and union territories. A pre-departure event in New Delhi is held by the EU Delegation in India ahead of the students’ departure, with selected students, alumni, EU member-state diplomats and education experts attending.
