Pune Rural Police are investigating the June 18 death of 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal, initially reported as an accidental fall from Lohagad Fort. After questioning and subsequent leads, police allege that Agarwal was pushed off the cliff by his fiancée, 20-year-old Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary. Court proceedings in Pune have remanded Goyal and Chaudhary at different stages, including a period sent to police custody followed by judicial custody. A Pune court rejects a prosecution bid to conduct polygraph tests, remanding both accused to judicial custody until mid-July. Police also question a youth from Beed district, whom they say had contact with Chaudhary and may have been involved in discussions about the alleged plot.

Investigators are reconstructing the timeline through recreations at Lohagad Fort and are analyzing digital and other evidence. The police have also seized a Kia Seltos SUV from Goyal’s family for forensic examination, to check for fingerprints, biological material, and other links to the incident and the alleged movements before the death. Meanwhile, a video from Goyal and Agarwal’s engagement ceremony has circulated online, where Goyal describes Agarwal as “caring and kind,” amid the ongoing case.
