The Railway Ministry accepts the resignation of Sanjay Kumar Jain as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), according to multiple reports. The resignation is approved by the Railway Board and Jain’s term ends on July 20, 2026. He joined IRCTC as CMD in February 2024 and will continue in the post until the effective date. After July 20, IRCTC will run under an interim leadership arrangement until a regular CMD is appointed, with officials expected to put transition measures in place to maintain continuity in operations. IRCTC is responsible for railway catering and tourism services and operates India’s largest online railway ticketing platform, handling large volumes of bookings and managing ongoing projects across the rail network. Reports also indicate that the Railway Ministry is likely to issue orders in the coming days regarding additional charge arrangements for the CMD role during the interim period.
