Meta Platforms launches a new line of smart glasses under its own brand—priced to compete for mainstream adoption ahead of Apple’s expected smart-glasses release. Bloomberg reports Meta introduces the Adventurer and Fury models at $299 each, positioned below its existing Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer smart glasses. Meta also unveils the Starfire model at $399 in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. The new glasses are designed in-house by Meta but manufactured by EssilorLuxottica, the partner that also makes Ray-Ban and Oakley frames.

Fast Company describes the redesign as more fashion-forward, with multiple silhouettes (including squarish rectangular and cat-eye shapes) intended to fit a wider range of faces. Meta’s industrial design team says bringing design in house offers flexibility for future pricing and features, and emphasizes daily comfort and discretion, including hidden microphone placement and smaller-looking camera components. MacRumors adds that the glasses use a camera, microphone array, and similar core specifications to Meta’s previous Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 models, and support features such as Muse Spark AI, multilingual live translation, and options for prescription lenses.

The outlets also note that pricing and design choices aim to address skepticism, including privacy concerns around always-on sensing, while Meta’s push is framed as part of a broader AI “agent” vision.
