The outbreak is linked to a passenger believed to have contracted the rare respiratory illness before boarding in Argentina, with additional infections reported among people on the ship. While authorities and health agencies emphasize limited broader public risk, the misinformation spreads across multiple languages and continues to shape online discussion and public reactions, echoing patterns seen during the earlier COVID-19 period.
