Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batter Abishek Porel is facing allegations after a woman filed a police complaint accusing him of a relationship based on a false promise of marriage, along with claims of assault and criminal intimidation. According to reports cited by both outlets, the complainant, described as a medical student from Karnataka, alleges that she and Porel were in a relationship for about three years and planned to marry. She says issues arose around one and a half years ago, and that the dispute later led her to approach police at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly district, West Bengal. The complaint is reported to include allegations of rape under the promise of marriage, as well as physical assault and criminal intimidation. Police have not issued any findings yet, and an investigation is underway. Porel has denied the allegations, saying they are baseless. He also claims he has not been contacted by police so far and says he will respond in detail if approached by investigators. One report also states that Porel suggests the allegations surfaced because of his recent cricketing performance.
