Apple shares a new video highlighting how professional surfers on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour use Apple Watch during competition. The video focuses on situations where athletes are far from the beach and cannot easily hear announcements over ocean noise and wind. According to the video, the WSL uses Apple Watch as part of the competition scoring setup, linking the watch to the scoring system so surfers receive up-to-date information while in the water.

Surfers described receiving key details such as how much time remains in a heat, which competitor has priority, and the current score. The watch updates information in real time, and at least one athlete says it provides vibration alerts when priority changes, reducing the need to check the screen. The video also notes that the Apple Watch is used during intense conditions, citing instances where surfers have worn the device at challenging surf locations without it being lost. Apple frames the effort as part of its broader “Apple at Play” content, and the company previously partnered with WSL and featured tours on Apple TV.
