The allegations stem from an arrest in eastern Idaho on June 6, where court records are cited as showing he was charged with possessing a controlled substance. Several outlets report the controlled substance involved is psilocybin mushrooms. Prosecutors also allege he had drug paraphernalia, which is described in reporting as part of the misdemeanor case. Yahoo Sports and other sources say Miller pleaded not guilty in court to both misdemeanor counts, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Athletic also reports the case as misdemeanor drug charges. Separately, the New York Post says Miller disputes aspects of the police account and posted a statement on Instagram describing the circumstances as beginning with being pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on a highway in Idaho. Miller’s Olympic record is cited across outlets, including his six Olympic medals and a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Games.
