Nigerian political activists and commentators react to a Federal High Court ruling affecting the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). In Lokoja, the Federal High Court orders the deregistration of the NDC, finding that the party’s logo infringes on the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP). The court also notes that PMP was not joined in the original suit despite its claims over the disputed logo.

Following the decision, Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Christopher Obioha, leader of the Njiko Igbo Forum, warns that Nigeria may not be able to hold the 2027 general election if Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, is prevented from appearing on the ballot. Obioha criticizes the judiciary for alleged inconsistencies and accuses the current administration of undermining the institution, saying public confidence in the courts has fallen. He frames his comments as a warning, adding that if Obi is frustrated and excluded, the election could fail to proceed successfully.

Separately, social media commentator and businessman Uche Rochas claims that Obi will not be on the ballot in 2027, linking the assertion to the controversy surrounding the NDC court case and its consequences.
