Amir Jangoo scored 233 and Roston Chase made 194 as West Indies build a commanding position against Sri Lanka in the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. On the third day, the pair put on a record-breaking 401-run partnership for the sixth wicket, helping West Indies reach 626 for nine declared. Their innings gives them a 318-run first-innings lead. Sri Lanka finished day three at 15 for one in their second innings, after losing Pathum Nissanka to Jayden Seales before stumps.
Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 308 on day one. West Indies had been 168 for five before Jangoo and Chase steadied the innings. The two resumed with Jangoo on 78 and Chase on 42 not out and carried the momentum through the remainder of the day, batting through a day described as dominated by their control. Jangoo converted his maiden Test century into a long stay at the crease, while Chase reached a sixth Test century but fell short of a double-century before being bowled by spin from Sonal Dinusha. Sri Lanka’s bowling was led by Milan Rathnayaka’s five-wicket haul.
