Wrestler Vinesh Phogat returns to the dispute over her eligibility to compete with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). WFI issues a detailed show-cause notice alleging indiscipline and anti-doping rule violations, and declares her ineligible to compete in domestic events, including the National Open Ranking tournament in Gonda, until June 26, 2026. The federation says Phogat has not completed the mandatory six-month notice period required under UWW anti-doping rules for athletes returning from retirement.
Phogat says she is eligible to compete and insists her response to the federation is complete. She argues she had already informed United World Wrestling (UWW) well in advance about her plan to resume competition, and therefore fulfilled the procedural requirements. She also rejects the WFI’s allegations of anti-doping rule violations and says she has official confirmation from the International Testing Agency.
Despite WFI’s position, Phogat reaches Gonda and maintains her intention to participate in the ongoing Senior Open Ranking event. The dispute continues as WFI questions the completeness of her reply to the notice and Phogat indicates she will fight back.
