The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has launched ACTIVE CISCE, a nationwide physical health and fitness assessment programme for students in its affiliated schools. According to CISCE, the initiative covers more than 31 lakh students across about 3,300 schools. The programme assesses age-appropriate fitness parameters and generates individual Fitness Report Cards for students. CISCE says ACTIVE CISCE is aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is designed to strengthen school health and fitness practices.
Beyond individual reporting, CISCE states that the large-scale data collected through the assessments will be used to develop national School Health and School Fitness indices. The council says these indices will support evidence-based interventions and policymaking, linking student-level fitness evaluation with broader public health planning in the school education ecosystem.
