Benue State Police Command says it has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Benue chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and another victim, Yakubu Isa. Police say the arrests follow intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations conducted on the night of June 27, 2026, in Otukpo Local Government Area. A police statement attributed to the state police public relations officer says the arrests represent a breakthrough in an ongoing investigation into the “gruesome killings.”

The suspects named across reports are Titus Thyodenda, Utibe Sam, Owoicho Ameh, Sunday Useni, Sunday Ogbanje, Daniel Raphael, Adokole John, Samuel Ogazi, Agbo Daniel and Onazi James. Benue’s Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commends the tactical teams for the action and says investigations continue to identify and arrest any other individuals linked to the incident. The police command also appeals to residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information, while reiterating that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in line with the law.
