A consumer commission in India orders SpiceJet to refund the airfare and pay compensation to a couple from Srinagar after the airline denied them boarding for a Hajj-related trip. According to NDTV, the commission finds SpiceJet deficient in service and also concludes the airline engaged in an unfair trade practice toward the complainants. The order includes payment of ₹52,000 as compensation, in addition to refunding the fare paid by the couple. The decision reflects the commission’s view that the denial of boarding caused consumer loss and violation of expected service standards. The commission’s ruling is based on the complainants’ case that they were not allowed to board despite having made the booking. The order requires SpiceJet to comply with the refund and compensation terms set by the bench.
