According to multiple reports, the notices are issued through Sabareesan’s legal counsel and relate to public statements the ministers made concerning allegations of corruption and related issues, including tariff hike claims. Sabareesan’s notices demand that the ministers withdraw the statements and issue an unconditional apology. The reports say the notices also call for a retraction of what Sabareesan describes as baseless and defamatory allegations aimed at damaging his reputation and that of the former chief minister.

Times of India reports that the ministers are given a 15-day deadline to comply, warning that if they do not, Sabareesan will initiate civil and criminal proceedings.
