Rajasthan has launched the “Khushishala” mental health programme in about 1,500 government primary schools to support students’ well-being. The initiative focuses on building children’s socio-emotional skills through classroom activities, aiming to improve emotional development and strengthen emotional resilience. Both outlets report that the programme includes efforts to enhance teacher–student relationships, with teachers playing a central role in identifying and supporting students’ mental health needs.

According to the reports, teachers receive specialized training to deliver the programme and to better support students’ feelings alongside academic learning. NDTV and Times of India also note that findings from earlier implementation indicate positive outcomes, including improved emotional development among children and better classroom interaction. Times of India adds that a pilot phase showed substantial gains in socio-emotional development, which the state now uses to support wider rollout. The programme is presented as a step toward integrating mental health and well-being into primary education in Rajasthan.
