The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance further into parts of northern India within the next five to six days. IMD expects the monsoon to move over additional areas of the North Arabian Sea and into parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next two to three days. It also projects further movement over more areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, along with parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and southeast Rajasthan during the following two to three days.
Meanwhile, Delhi continues to face delayed seasonal rains and higher temperatures. Multiple reports note that Delhi records its warmest morning in two years, with heat persisting as monsoon onset is delayed. Several sources also report expectations of thunderstorms and rainfall in some northern locations, including Uttar Pradesh and nearby regions. IMD warnings extend to heat: possible heatwave conditions, including severe heat, are flagged for Uttar Pradesh around July 28 and 29. Separately, Mint reports IMD alerts for heavy rainfall in Bengal and the North-East.
