Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray asks Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to disqualify six rebel MPs, saying their defections are linked to a wider political conspiracy. Thackeray frames the move as part of “Operation Devendra” and urges the Speaker to uphold the rule of law. He alleges that the BJP is undermining its own leaders and rejects the idea that voters supported the defectors, saying people backed candidates against the “Modi wave.”

Thackeray raises the issue while touring the constituencies of the rebel MPs. According to The Hindu, MPs loyal to the Shiv Sena (UBT) submit a formal representation to the Speaker and seek an opportunity to present their side. The report also notes that party MP Arvind Sawant cuts short an official visit to Kargil after the Speaker advances the date of the hearing, indicating the matter is being pursued through the parliamentary process. The submissions and Thackeray’s public demand focus on the disqualification request under the procedures governing defections.
