Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, meets the party’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, to discuss the impact of a recent court ruling on the NDC’s registration status. Dickson confirms the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page, saying the two discuss issues of mutual interest concerning the party and that he briefed Kwankwaso on steps the NDC is taking in response to what he calls an “anomalous” decision.
The dispute centers on a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, which on Friday vacates an earlier judgment delivered on December 10, 2025. The earlier decision had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC. In the later ruling in suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025, Justice Isah Dashen says the December 10 judgment was delivered without hearing all necessary parties, making the proceedings constitutionally defective. The court acts on an application by the Peace Movement Party, which claims it has a legal interest in the matter.
Opposition figures reportedly criticize the court action, alleging political motive tied to the Tinubu administration. Dickson also reiterates the party’s commitment to multi-party democracy, saying the NDC rejects any move toward one-party rule.
