Heavy overnight rain hits Mumbai suburbs, with multiple locations recording over 100 mm

Several areas in Mumbai recorded more than 200 mm of rainfall over the last 24 hours, according to the BMC.

Mumbai's suburbs were battered by intense overnight showers on Monday, with several areas receiving over 100 mm of rain in just four hours. This downpour caused significant waterlogging and traffic snarls in parts of Mulund and Andheri. Veena Nagar in Mulund topped the rainfall charts with 160.4 mm, while Versova also experienced heavy showers. The island city, however, saw moderate rainfall.

As per data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Veena Nagar in the eastern suburb of Mulund recorded a staggering 160.4 mm of rain, while Versova in the western suburbs logged 156.8 mm. The suburbs witnessed a downpour from midnight to 4 am, causing waterlogging on stretches of LBS Road in Mulund and the Andheri subway, affecting vehicular movement for some time, officials said.
