Former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi starts vacating her official residence at 10 Circular Road, Patna, as the Bihar Building Construction Department’s deadline ends. Multiple outlets report that the department had set June 29 as the deadline for vacating and that Rabri Devi sought an extension to July 5, citing a dispute over the government inventory of items allotted with the bungalow.

According to reporting, the controversy centers on whether the family and officials can verify the household items listed at the time of allotment in 2006. Rabri Devi’s representatives and RJD leaders say it is unfair to hand over the property without receiving the authorised inventory list and completing matching and verification. Officials reportedly visited the residence in late June but did not provide the authorised list of furniture and other items, leading to a request through correspondence to furnish the official register.

The state government has allotted the bungalow to State Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishor Ram. After belongings are shifted to Rabri Devi’s private residence, the bungalow is vacated and officials are expected to complete the handover to the new allottee. Times of India also reports security for Rabri Devi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad is downgraded during the transition, and Rabri Devi is assigned a new official residence on Harding Road.
