The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is warning prospective students, partners and the wider public about an unauthorised website that falsely claims affiliation with the university. In a notice issued through its Regional Headquarters in Jamaica, The UWI says the site is not endorsed, affiliated with, or authorised by the institution, and it uses the university’s name and branding without permission while misrepresenting its relationship to The UWI. The university reports that the fraudulent site includes a personal data capture form. It cautions that any personal information submitted—such as name, email address and telephone number—would not be received by The UWI because the website is not an official university platform.

The UWI advises individuals who may have been affected to be cautious about any follow-up communications claiming to come from the university. It urges people to refrain from sharing additional personal or financial information in response to unsolicited messages and to verify communications only through official UWI channels. The university also states it has initiated a coordinated response, including reporting the matter to international cyber and law enforcement authorities, pursuing legal and technical steps to have the site removed, and engaging partners. It directs people to contact oadmin@uwi.edu for information or assistance.
