Top officials from India’s Ministry of Higher Education and the National Testing Agency (NTA) are set to brief a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports on the learnings from the NEET-UG re-examination and steps to strengthen the NTA. The committee meeting is scheduled for July 1, with NTA Director General Abhishek Singh briefing members on the outcomes of the re-exam conducted on June 21. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi is also expected to attend. The government cancelled the NEET-UG exam originally held on May 3 following reports of a paper leak and then conducted the re-test on June 21. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged paper leak.

Sources also indicate additional briefings for the committee, including former ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan, who is associated with a government high-powered steering committee monitoring NTA-related recommendations. The agenda is also expected to cover broader measures to improve the testing agency and discuss lessons from the re-examination process.
