Mylswamy Annadurai, a former scientist associated with ISRO, is set to head a 17-member committee tasked with overhauling Tamil Nadu’s school curriculum and syllabus for the state board. According to multiple reports, the committee includes educationists and academicians and is formed under a government order. One outlet notes that Annadurai takes over after the departure of Sultan Ahmed Ismail, and that the panel is expanded to 17 members.
The committee’s mandate is to redesign the existing curriculum to help students address evolving modern challenges and to reflect changes driven by technology. The panel is also expected to identify and address learning gaps. Reporting indicates that the committee will align the state board curriculum with the upcoming State Education Policy scheduled for August 2025 and will incorporate stakeholder feedback.
Deccan Chronicle and Business Line both state that the committee is given a fixed term of three years, counted from the date the government order is issued. Times of India adds that the committee includes a Right to Education activist, Anantajit Makia, among its members.
