A Volvo passenger bus carrying about 65 people collides with a trailer on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district in the early hours of Tuesday, killing at least four passengers and injuring several others. Reports say the accident occurs near the Raya police station limits, as the bus is travelling from Lucknow to Delhi and rams into a trailer moving ahead on the high-speed corridor. The impact severely damages the front of the bus and traps some passengers inside.
Emergency services respond immediately, with local police, expressway patrol teams, and other responders carrying out rescue operations to extract injured people from the wreckage. The wounded are taken to nearby hospitals, and some are described as being in critical condition. Traffic on part of the expressway is temporarily disrupted while cranes are used to remove the damaged vehicles and restore movement.
Authorities investigate the crash, with overspeeding and driver-related factors such as fatigue cited as possibilities. Officials also establish the identities of the deceased, while treatment for the injured continues.
