Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah approves scholarships for more than 760 beneficiaries under the state’s 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme, according to reports from The Punch and Nigerian Eye. The approvals cover beneficiaries selected from all 17 local government areas and across different fields of study. The announced breakdown includes over 500 undergraduate students, about 100 postgraduate students, and 160 public sector teachers.

The Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Chukwuemeka Mbah, announces the approval in a statement. The selection is tied to applicants who pass a Computer-Based Test. After the approval, successful candidates begin receiving text messages and emails to complete verification and documentation. The process is carried out on a local government-by-local government basis, and officials ask recipients to respond promptly.

The scholarship programme is described as a flagship initiative of the Mbah administration intended to reduce financial barriers to education and support human capital development. Reports also indicate that additional beneficiaries may be included in later phases, and that eligible residents are encouraged to continue applying.
