Amazon Web Services (AWS) says it is committing $1 billion to a new effort aimed at embedding AI engineers within customer organisations. According to reports, the programme will place small teams, described as “pods of engineers,” into client environments to help build and deploy AI capabilities. The engagement model is set for fixed 45-day periods, during which AWS engineers work alongside customer teams.

The move is positioned as a way to accelerate practical adoption of embedded and applied AI, rather than relying solely on remote support. The initiative is also noted as joining other vendors already working on similar concepts. OpenAI and Anthropic are mentioned as companies that have taken steps toward placing AI-focused specialists directly inside customer organisations.

AWS has not been reported to specify additional operational details such as eligibility criteria, pricing, or the full scope of supported use cases, but the company frames the $1 billion commitment as a substantial investment to scale the embedded-engineer approach across its customer base.
