Borno State’s Commissioner for Education, Lawan Wakilbe, visits the community to assess the situation. The Nigerian Army says troops rescue 10 victims—teachers and students—during a firefight with the attackers near Daggu, with military officials describing recovery of motorcycles after the engagement. The military also reports that one soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force die during the operation. Authorities say efforts continue to locate the remaining missing children and pursue the attackers.
